Payless Power does one thing and does it cleanly: lights on today, no deposit, no credit check, no shutoff from a billing dispute — and its PUCT complaint rate runs well below the industry average. The catch is cost. At a typical 1,000 kWh it ranks near the bottom of every Texas provider on price (~18% above average), and the $1/day base charge inflates the real rate further. Prepaid is the right tool for credit-challenged shoppers and same-day move-ins; anyone who can qualify for a standard deposit will save $40–60 a month on a normal fixed plan.
