What Happens When You Enter Your ZIP
We Identify Your TDU
Texas has five transmission and distribution utilities (TDUs) — Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, TNMP, and Lubbock Power & Light. Your ZIP code tells us which TDU serves your area, because delivery charges vary by territory and directly affect your total bill.
We Pull Every Available Plan
We query every licensed retail electric provider (REP) in your TDU territory and pull their current plans — fixed-rate, variable, indexed, green energy, prepaid, and everything in between.
We Calculate Real Costs
Instead of just showing the advertised rate at 2,000 kWh, we calculate your estimated monthly bill based on how much electricity your home actually uses. That means factoring in base charges, delivery fees, credits, and tiered pricing at your specific level.
Not every Texas ZIP code is deregulated
About 85% of Texas has retail electricity choice. But some areas — including those served by municipal utilities and electric cooperatives — are not deregulated. If your ZIP falls in a non-deregulated area, we'll let you know and explain your options.
Cities like Austin (Austin Energy), San Antonio (CPS Energy), and parts of Lubbock have their own municipal utilities and don't participate in the deregulated market.
